In early June, State Electric completed the electrical and low voltage systems fit-out for Alexion’s new headquarters at 121 Seaport in Boston’s Seaport District. Alexion is a global biopharmaceutical company that focuses on developing life-changing therapies for patients affected by rare diseases. State Electric also completed the electrical core & shell of the 17-story, 450,000 SF, 121 Seaport elliptical office tower in partnership with Skanska. Project Manager Vincent Visconti and General Foreman Vance Fillmore headed up the project team on this portion of the job.
Our Alexion electrical fit-out team was led by Project Manager Luke Rebisz and General Foreman Jay Pagum. They began working in mid-December, with the target completion set for early June. To get a head start on the six month accelerated schedule, the fire alarm infrastructure was completed prior to the actual fire alarm shop drawings being completed. The team worked closely with Skanska to introduce a second shift in order to stay on schedule without overloading the project with manpower. It’s a true testament to State Electric’s workers’ determination and productivity that with such an expedited schedule all ISD and BFD inspections were done with 100% project completion, 5 days ahead of the actual project schedule.
State Electric’s Low Voltage Systems (LVS) Group completed the tele/data and security portions of the Skanska Alexion fit-out. Low Voltage Project Managers CJ Quinn and Joe Vaccari coordinated closely with General Foreman Kevin O’Connell to bring the Tel/Data and Security work to completion on a very aggressive schedule. Working with AV integrator Tritech Systems, the LVS crew also installed a sophisticated audiovisual system on Floors 3-8 under the direction of Foreman Tony Santiago. Concurrently, LVS Project Manager Jim Fitzgerald worked with Foreman Mike Pelton to complete the construction of a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) as an installation subcontractor to Oceus Networks. After performing exceptionally well on Alexion’s low voltage project, Gilbane Construction has hired State Electric to complete the LVS work at PTC’s new headquarters on floors 9-17 at 121 Seaport, which is scheduled to be completed in December 2018.
Boston’s Seaport District continues to be in the midst of a construction boom. State Electric’s Commercial Division has proven themselves on Seaport projects such as 121 Seaport, One Seaport Square, Pier 4 Office & Condos, 22 Liberty, Yotel, Boston Innovation Center, and Autodesk. With many more transformative buildings on the horizon in the Seaport, we are extremely excited to see what future projects present themselves.
