We are excited to announce that John Moriarty & Associates (JMA) recently awarded State Electric the electrical core & shell and fit-out for The TRACK at New Balance. Adjacent to the Warrior Ice Arena/80 Guest St., the new state of the art facility will encompass 466,051 SF and feature a 200 meter hydraulically banked track, seating for over 5,000, and best in class facilities for training, events, and recovery. Since construction began at Boston Landing in 2013, we have worked in partnership with JMA on all but one of the projects which include the New Balance World Headquarters, Boston Bruins Warrior Ice Arena, 80 Guest St. Office & Lab, The Lantera Residences, numerous small fit-out projects, and now The TRACK at New Balance.
Coming off a recent successful design-assist effort with JMA at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, JMA decided to use the same project delivery method for The TRACK at New Balance. Our job was to bring design efficiency along with accurate pricing that some Owners and Construction Managers have come to appreciate. Work on the project started early by meeting with the Owner, Construction Manager, and Engineers to develop a workable model with the State Electric team providing input on constructability, maintainability, and cost estimates throughout. As the process moved ahead, we continued to provide real-time feedback so the project’s overall budget and schedule could be evaluated to meet the target value. Under the watchful eye of Vice President Brendan Dickie, Chief Estimator Chris Dillon, Senior Estimator Mike Parker, Project Manager Mike Abbott, and General Foreman Derek Holmes did an outstanding job. A special thanks to everyone involved, it was truly a team effort. Now it is time to transition into construction. Work is expected to begin in the next few weeks with project completion planned for the spring of 2021.
