Northeastern University – LightView Apartments Completed

State Electric recently completed the electrical core & shell, fit-out, tel/data, security, and audio visual (AV) work at the new Northeastern University – LightView Student Apartments in partnership with John Moriarty & Associates (JMA). The 318,000 SF, 22-story, 214-unit building is owned and managed by American Campus Communities and leased out to Northeastern University. Conveniently located adjacent to the campus and the new Science and Engineering Complex, LightView offers students great amenities such as a fitness center, study rooms, lounge area, fully equipped in-dorm kitchens, on-site laundry facilities, and bike storage.

Our Commercial Division’s team, headed up by Project Manager Eric Gill and General Foreman Dave Liang, began working on the electrical core & shell in March of 2017. The project had a firm end date of July 2019 with students set to move in for their fall semester. Working efficiently and utilizing prefabrication was critical to deliver the project on schedule. Our prefabrication team built out the 214-units load centers, panels, branch circuits, and fire alarm riser terminal cabinets and boosters. This allowed our project team to execute a fast-track and quality electrical installation while minimizing our onsite footprint.

Concurrently, our Low Voltage Systems Division worked under the direction of General Foreman Rob Panasuk to complete the installation of numerous systems at LightView. Project Manager Joe Vaccari worked with Foreman John Irvine to install and turn up all of the access control and CCTV systems as a security subcontractor to BCM controls. Project Manager Rich Borrelli worked in conjunction with our subcontractor Adtech Systems to install and integrate a sophisticated AV system that was deployed on the ground floor under the field direction of General Foreman Scott MacPherson. In addition to the installation of all category 6 and coaxial cabling throughout the tower in the JMA tel/data contract, State Electric worked with Apogee, the owner’s network integration team, to rack all network switches and install wireless access points and a high bandwidth wireless network connection on the roof of the building.

State Electric’s Commercial and Low Voltage Systems Divisions continue to seamlessly work together to deliver high profile Commercial projects throughout Boston with superior performance.
