With the industry’s largest in-house team of virtual design & construction (VDC) coordinators, State Electric is able to create 3-D models of structures and design components using state-of-the-art technology and programs including Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks. Our expertise combined with the utilization of BIM technologies not only helps with the identification of more efficient construction approaches, along with clash detection, but also facilitates precise prefabrication design of select components. Through integrating our operation and staying on the cutting edge, we utilize the Trimble Total Station to allow our project teams to translate points from the virtual BIM files and reproduce them on real-world job sites. By making full use of BIM technologies and the Trimble, we can expedite our layout and installation time with increased accuracy and productivity.
State Electric’s Design Department is comprised of professionals who are licensed electricians with vast construction experience—which is needed to continually execute the most complex electrical construction projects. They have the ability to apply their field knowledge into their coordination work, making them invaluable assets throughout the design process. With their level of expertise and experience, we’re able to exceed the demands of the clients. At State Electric, we utilize Revit as the primary BIM software to provide our clients the benefit of pre-construction pricing options as well as the visual benefits of being able to evaluate the design during the development phase of the project. Real-time design models are produced to show how the project looks at any point during construction. Our team can provide the level of detail (LOD) required from LOD100, LOD200, LOD300, LOD350, to LOD400.
The power of visualization, coordination, simulation, and optimization of 3-D and BIM technologies allows State Electric to more effectively meet our customer’s design, construction, software, and asset & facility management requirements. Our approach to BIM is just another example of our commitment to be on the leading edge of technology. This helps us deliver the highest quality of work to our clients. The majority of our VDC coordinators have run major electrical construction projects, so they can apply their field knowledge into their coordination work, making them invaluable assets.
The traditional method of laying out interior lights, conduit, pipe racks, and other electrical components is to walk around with the drawings and use a tape measure to measure the points. This can be extremely time consuming and brings the element of human error into play. The Trimble Total Station eliminates these drawbacks and allows electrical components to be laid out perfectly with the laser feature before the walls are even installed. Our crews are able to be extremely productive and can accelerate the schedule by incorporating the Trimble method. At State Electric, we continually strive to improve our operation by leveraging these new and innovative methods on every project to be as efficient as possible.
Imagine being able to step through time to see your completed project firsthand, from early design all the way to final layout. Seems impossible. Luckily, at State Electric, we’ve mastered that too. We use state of the art virtual reality software to allow our project teams and clients to visualize the building before it’s done. In turn, this helps us to analyze and lay out final designs, so that there are no surprises. Being an early adopter of this technology makes it easier for our project teams to collaborate in real time, within a shared environment, where they can easily identify details and issues to allow decisions to be made in a timely manner. Our commitment to being on the leading edge of incorporating the latest technologies into our operation is unmatched in the electrical industry.
“State Electric is committed to staying on the cutting edge of technology. By utilizing and applying BIM technologies we’re able to provide unprecedented quality installations and innovative solutions to every project.
